The European Molecular Biology Network
The European Molecular Biology Network (EMBnet) Node is an international foundation that aggregates National Nodes and Specialist (industrial and research) Nodes, that provide Bioinformatics infrastructural facilities in a geographically distributed way. Altogether it serves a community of more than 32000 users. PEN, the portuguese node, exists in the IGC since 1992 and has provided Bioinformatics services to a grand total of more than 600 national users. One of its main activities, training and tuition in Bioinformatics, is strongly supported in EMBnet's pool of professional teaching staff. Data Resource for Portuguese Biological Collections
DRPBC, the Data Resource for the Portuguese Biological Collections, is a national focal point for the community of collection curators and users. Its international insertion is guaranteed through BioCASE an EC funded project in which the IGC paticipates, that will provide an integrated Biological Collections Information Service in Europe.
